  1. Cleanse and pat dry , ensuring it's free of any makeup or product residue.
  2. Apply a thin layer of facial oil (such as Dearist Sea Buckthorn Berry & Calendula Oil or Dearist Precious Saffron Oil) or Dearist Aloe Vera Gel to facilitate smooth gliding and prevent friction.
  3. Forehead: Start at the centre of your forehead and sweep the Gua Sha outward towards the hairline. Use gentle, slow motions and repeat on both sides.
  4. Eyes: Using light pressure, move the Gua Sha tool from the inner corner of your eye outwards along the brow bone, then beneath the eyes.
  5. Cheeks & Jawline: Begin at the side of your nose and sweep outward towards your ears. Follow along the cheekbones and jawline, applying deeper pressure here to sculpt and lift.
  6. Neck: Glide the tool from the back of your neck to the front and along the sides, promoting circulation and releasing tension.
  7. For an added refreshing effect, chill your Kansa Gua Sha in the fridge before use to help reduce puffiness.

Dearist Tip: Always listen to your skin—adjust pressure and technique as needed for a personalised experience.

FAQs
What is the difference between a traditional Gua Sha and an R Shaped Gua Sha?

Dearist Kansa Gua Sha is R Shaped, different to a traditional Gua Sha. The main difference between a traditional Gua Sha and an R-shaped Gua Sha lies in their shape and usage. The traditional Gua Sha is flat and versatile, suitable for massaging various body parts, while the R-shaped Gua Sha has a more pronounced curve, designed specifically for precise massage and targeted contouring, especially along the jawline and cheekbones. The R-shaped version enhances lifting and sculpting effects, making it ideal for targeted facial contouring.

What is the Kansa Gua Sha made of?

Kansa is an alloy primarily composed of copper and tin, and other metals with varying proportions. It is known for its therapeutic and health benefits in Ayurveda, such as balancing the doshas (body energies), Kansa is believed to have a balancing effect on the body's energy and is often used in tools which help detoxify the skin, improve circulation, and restore a natural glow. The metal's conductivity allows it to interact beneficially with the skin, making it a popular choice in traditional Ayurvedic skincare and haircare practices.

Are massage tools made of Kansa better than crystal ones [such as jade or rose quartz]?

Massage tools made from Kansa metal, offer deep benefits due to its Ayurvedic roots, balancing pH and combining copper, zinc, and tin to reduce inflammation, boost immunity, and relieve facial stress. It effectively de-puffs and contours the skin. In comparison, crystal gua shas and combs, like jade and rose quartz also work on improving lymphatic drainage and circulation. While both tools enhance facial toning and reduce puffiness, the Kansa massage tools offer deeper muscle stimulation and more pronounced contouring due to the metal's properties, making it particularly effective.

Can the Kansa Gua Sha be used on other parts of the body?.

Yes, the Dearist Kansa Gua Sha can be used on other areas of the body, such as the shoulders, neck, and back. It helps relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and encourage relaxation. Make sure to apply a facial oil or gel or moisturiser to ensure smooth gliding on the skin.

Can I use the Kansa Gua Sha on sensitive skin?

Yes, the Kansa Gua Sha is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Use gentle pressure to avoid irritation. Avoid using the tool on active acne, open cuts or wounds.

How often should I use the Kansa Gua Sha?

For best results, we recommend using the Kansa Gua Sha 3-4 times a week. However, it can be used daily depending on your skin's needs.

Which skincare products can I pair with a Kansa Gua Sha?

For optimal use, the Kansa Gua Sha requires a slip—apply facial oils or aloe vera gel before massaging. This not only ensures smooth gliding but also enhances the absorption of these products.

We recommend Dearist Sea Buckthorn Berry & Calendula Oil for all skin types, including oily skin, and Dearist Precious Saffron Oil for dry and mature skin.

Is it normal to see a greyish residue on my skin while using the Kansa Gua Sha, and should I be concerned?

Seeing greying on your skin while using the Kansa Gua Sha is generally not a cause for concern. It’s because the metals in the wand, typically bronze, react with the natural acidity of your skin and a sign of impurities being lifted during the massage and detoxification.

Is the Kansa Gua Sha safe to use on acne-prone or sensitised skin?

The Kansa Gua Sha is generally safe for acne-prone skin, but it's best to avoid using it on areas with active acne. Gently massaging around these areas can improve circulation without irritating the acne.

Use a facial oil that is suitable for acne-prone skin or use Dearist Aloe Vera Gel for proper slip and glide.

Is Kansa Gua Sha safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

The Kansa Gua Sha is generally safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It can also help reduce puffiness, a common issue during pregnancy. However, always consult with your healthcare provider to ensure it meets your specific health needs.

How can I clean my Kansa Tools?

Upon receiving your Kansa Gua Sha, wash it with a chemical-free soap [like castile soap or goats milk soap]. Gently towel dry the tool before use.

Natural Alternatives to clean Kansa:

Tea Tree Oil: For natural sterilisation, apply a few drops of tea tree oil on a dry muslin cloth and rub the wand.

White Kaolin Clay: This clay helps to remove residue. Mix the clay with water to create a paste, apply it to the wand, then rinse with cold water and towel dry.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives to clean your Kansa Gua Sha.
